In Yoruba, ata simply means chilli pepper. A true Capsicum frutescens: small, soft-walled, juicy pods with the texture of a Tabasco type, carried in upright clusters that ripen green to vivid red. The plant stays compact at around 20 inches and sets far more heavily than its size suggests. Around 80,000 Scoville, a sharp bright burn rather than a slow one.
