Growing Peppers Indoors
No yard? No problem. Pepper plants are some of the best indoor edibles you can grow — compact, productive, and they actually like the warmth of your house. Here's everything you need to know.
What Are Indoor Peppers?
Indoor peppers are exactly what they sound like — pepper plants grown entirely inside your home. Not a different species, not a special hybrid. They're the same Capsicum varieties you'd grow outside, just adapted to container life with a little help from you.
The best indoor varieties tend to be compact (under 2 feet), don't need a ton of root space, and fruit reliably without outdoor pollinators. Think Thai chilies on a sunny windowsill, a Shishito plant under an artificial light, or a Bolivian Rainbow as a living centerpiece that also makes dinner better.
Every plant we ship is already established and growing — the root ball travels wrapped in a moisture-retaining bag. Get it into a container on a windowsill (or something bigger) within a day or two, and it's ready to go.
Pro Tip
South-facing windows give 6+ hours of direct sun — the sweet spot for most pepper varieties.

Take It Further: Bonchi
Once you've got indoor peppers dialed in, the next level is bonchi — bonsai chile peppers. You prune and train your pepper plant into a miniature tree form. It's part art, part horticulture, and the results are stunning. Plants can live for years this way.
The best resource out there is the Bonchi Booklet from Fatalii Seeds — the most comprehensive guide ever written on the subject. If you're serious about indoor peppers, it's worth a look.
