Chocolate Rocoto is a pepper variety. Austin Peppers sells it as a live nursery-grown plant, shipped from South Texas.
Price: $25.00 USD
Species: C. pubescens Mature pod color: Brown/Chocolate Pod form: Apple/blunt bell Heat: 30,000-100,000 SHU (Hot) Days until harvest: Extremely Late 120+ Plant height: > 48 inches Light: Partial to full sun Growing temperature: 60-75°F (16-24°C) Planter size: Large 7–10 gallons (26–38 liters) A rare brown-fruited rocoto. Medium pods ripen to a deep chocolate over thick, crunchy, juicy walls, with the fruity note the species is known for and heat that keeps climbing. Like every Capsicum pubescens it carries hairy leaves and black seeds, and it handles cool conditions better than any other pepper you can grow, which is why the Andes suit it and a Texas August does not.
