Dream Catcher is an ornamental with leaves mottled green, purple and white, purple flowers, and lavender pods that ripen red. Farmers Market Jalapeno, sometimes called the potato jalapeno, is the one that is almost entirely covered in corking, the healed scarring most jalapenos only show in streaks, until the skin reads like cantaloupe rind. It was found at a farmers market by John Fiedler of Bangor, Maine, and spread by Christopher Phillips of Sterling Heights, Michigan. This cross puts the variegated foliage and the corked, oversized jalapeno pod on the same plant. Corking does nothing to the flavour; growers who know the parent look for it.
