Species: C. annuum Mature pod color: Orange Pod form: Curled/twisted Heat: 5,000-30,000 SHU (Medium) Light: Full sun (6–8+ hrs) Growing temperature: 70-85°F (21-29°C) SKU: PP-PETERPEPPERORANGE-A The orange form of the same old American heirloom. Capsicum annuum, 10,000 to 23,000 SHU, three to four inch pods on a plant of 24 to 30 inches.Orange is the harder of the two colours to find. It ripens through green to a clean orange rather than passing through red, and the pod carries the same wrinkled, tapered form the variety is known for. What you are getting: a seedling, minimum 8 weeks old and at least 6 inches tall. It is not a finished plant. It will need transplanting into a container, so choose the container accordingly: these will grow in anything from a half gallon up, but the pot determines the yield in many cases, and some varieties do better than others in a small one.If it is going outside: harden it off first. Give it a few hours a day somewhere sheltered and out of direct sun, and build that up over a week or so before it lives outdoors full time. A seedling put straight out is a seedling you can lose.Feeding: do not fertilise for the first two weeks. After that, use a balanced fertiliser.More on this variety, and on growing peppers generally, at wikipepper.org.
