Trademarked South African variety discovered by Johan Steenkamp growing wild near his holiday home in Limpopo province in 1993. Capsicum baccatum. Cherry-sized round pods, very mild at around 1,177 SHU, with a sweet and slightly tangy flavor. The brand is tightly controlled — Peppadew products are common on grocery shelves, but seed is difficult to source commercially. Growing your own is the only way to get the fresh fruit. Pickled Peppadews are the classic form.
